We're here to assist and are happy to share some of our knowledge with you in the form of this brief guide.

First Your Idea  -Part one Second Your Website  -Part two Making Your Website Work  -Part three
First Comes Your Idea   Getting a venture going is a real challenge but it’s also exciting; planning and plotting how what you want to achieved will be achieved, taking the first steps, contemplating the launch.

In the beginning, though hard work, it’s easy to be carried away with the momentum. You’re fired up, full of motivation, making it happen. But, sustaining what you start is actually more difficult. Once the sound of the starting gun is no longer ringing in your ears, when the initial call to action has faded to a whisper, if the anticipated response hasn’t been as anticipated; that’s when your resolve to keep going may be truly tested.

So, make it a little easier on yourself from the outset. Put some simple measures in place that will help you to monitor how things are going. A lot of what you do in the early stages is like a ‘live’ test. Failure on this level doesn’t necessarily mean failure overall, it may just be an opportunity to see what’s really going to work, what you may need to evolve and refine over time.

You should be clear about what you’re trying to achieve and by when.   Clear about how you’ll know that you’re achieving it.   Prepared to review what is and isn’t happening, and if necessary to re-think, be creative and adjust.

Most founders will work with networks of people they know or friends of friends. This makes lots of sense because birds of a feather may naturally flock together assuming you can find a place for like minds to perch - such as an event or venue.

Founders may organise around a ‘Happening’ - meeting place, gallery, open mic, performance, artsfest. This allows advertising to be concentrated on the Happening and provides an opportunity to promote a debate, cause, aim or interest.

What ever your chosen rallying point never forget the need to reach out to others, to seek participation, an audience.

Make these questions ones you ask yourself on a regular basis, in order to keep your ideas grounded and your focus on reaching out to others:

Q. Who are the people you’re trying to reach, speak to, communicate with?

Q. How do they know you’re there? What you stand for? What you’re speaking out about or asking of them?

It’s difficult to be sure your ideas are going to work. It’s hard to get those ideas across to others. Harder to reach out to people, capture their imaginations, get them involved.
